Site Doroshin Bay Cabin
“Doroshin Bay Cabin is a historic 14' x 16' log cabin built around the turn of the century for use as a mining cabin and later used by early trappers and hunters. Located on the eastern shore of Skilak Lake overlooking Doroshin Bay, this cabin offers seclusion, hunting, sightseeing, wildlife viewing, and fishing. The cabin contains one bunk bed, a table with benches, countertop for food preparation, wood stove, splitting maul, crosscut saw, broom, shovel, fire extinguisher, an established campfire ring, and an outhouse. Because this cabin is located in designated wilderness, chainsaw use for firewood collection from dead and down trees is prohibited. In the winter there is cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmachining. Contact the Refuge Headquarters (907-743-9145) for snowmachine regulations. Access to the cabin is by boat, float plane, ski plane, skiing, and snowmachine. The closest boat ramp is located at Upper Skilak Campground off Skilak Lake Road. Refer to USGS map Kenai B-1. GPS coordinates: Latitude: 60.426133, Longitude: -150.140654.”
