Site Big Bay Cabin

“Big Bay Cabin is a historic 14' x 17' log cabin built in the 1890's and restored in the summer of 2011. Located on the south shore of Tustumena Lake, this cabin offers seclusion, hunting, sightseeing, and wildlife viewing. In the winter there is cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmachining. The cabin contains one bunk bed, a table with benches, countertop for food preparation, wood stove, splitting maul, cross cut saw, broom, shovel, fire extinguisher, an established campfire ring, and an outhouse. Because this cabin is located in designated wilderness, chainsaw use for firewood collection from dead and down trees is prohibited. Primary access to this cabin is by boat from the Kasilof River Landing, float plane, ski plane, skiing, and snowmachine. Contact the Refuge Headquarters (907-743-9145) for snowmachine regulations. Refer to USGS map Kenai A-3. GPS coordinates: Latitude: 60.151121 Longitude: -150.851458.”
