Creating an account stores your email address and, once you finish onboarding, a username. Anything else you add to your profile -- first/last name, location, bio, links -- is optional. Signing in with Google also stores the profile photo it provides; uploading your own photo replaces it.
Your username is public wherever you post: reviews, questions and answers, and photo credits, and on your public profile page (/u/<username>). First name, last name, and email are never shown there. Setting your profile to Private on the account page hides your bio and links from that page, but your username still appears next to anything you post -- it's your identity across the site, not just your profile page.
You can download a copy of your OpenCamp data at any time from Your data: your profile, reviews, photos, lists, campsite availability watches, and RV recall alert subscriptions. We email a download link that stays valid for 24 hours.
Deleting your account from Your data is permanent -- there is no recovery window. It removes your profile, sessions, lists (including any you've shared with collaborators), campsite availability watches, and RV recall alert subscriptions. Your uploaded photos are queued for deletion and removed within 30 days. Reviews and questions/answers you posted stay up (removing them would also remove other people's replies and the campground's rating history), but they're shown as posted by “Deleted camper” with no other trace of your account.
