Site Moose Creek

“Recreation: Moose Creek Cabin offers visitors rustic lodging, winter recreation opportunities, scenery, wildlife viewing and a relaxing experience within the White Mountains National Recreation Area. This is a primitive cabin with no running water or electricity, and minimal cell phone coverage. This is primarily a winter use cabin where snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are popular activities. The 1-million-acre White Mountains National Recreation Area offers more than 250 miles of groomed winter trails linking 12 public-use cabins. The Moose Creek Cabin is accessible by all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) in the summer (May 1 - October 14), but can be extremely difficult to access due to muddy trail conditions. Directions: The most direct route from the city of Fairbanks, Alaska, is to travel north on the Steese Highway to Fox, Alaska, then north on the Elliott Highway to milepost 28 and the Wickersham Dome Trailhead parking area. The trail to the cabin begins here. Access to this cabin is via the Wickersham Creek Trail and Trail Creek Trail, approximately 16.5 miles from the Wickersham Dome Trailhead. The cabin is reached by a short spur trail on the south side of the Trail Creek approximately one mile east of the junction with Moose Creek Trail. N65 13' 34.990" negative W147 36' 16.812"”
