Mixons Hammock
Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge Overnight Camping Permit

“You must be on the water by Noon. Individuals who arrive later than this time may be denied permission to begin their trip. No refunds will be issued for late arrivals. Only 2 miles from Stephen C. Foster State Park, Mixons Hammock is located at the west end of Billys Lake before the River Narrows on the Brown Trail. This land based site provides a great paddle/camping opportunity for large groups, scouts, less experienced paddlers or a group with mixed levels of experience and families with children. There are lots of opportunities to fish along Billys Lake as well as paddle all around the lake and the River Narrows (for those more experienced paddlers.) It's a great place for hiking and to enjoy sitting around a campfire. There is no overhead shelter so consider bringing a tarp in case it rains.”
