Mattresses not provided. Storage Cache: separate building available for storing food and/or hanging game meat. Drinking Water: best source is a small stream 500 feet northwest of the cabin. Follow the trail beyond the outhouse. Filter/boil all drinking water. Heating: both a Nordic 250 oil drip stove and propane heater are equipped. The oil stove is recommended (fuel consumption .08 - .26 gallons/hour). Oil stove fuel type: kerosene, heating oil, or automotive diesel. Do not attempt to use gasoline or white gas. Watch this operation video before you visit: Nordic Stove Operation Hiking/wildlife Viewing: There are no developed hiking trails. Easy access behind the cabin along a string of beaver ponds is worth exploring. Also recommended is walking the beach to north, and exploring the creeks that flow into the head of the bay (be sure to know the tides; high tide may limit your return to the cabin). Hunting: bear, deer, goat, waterfowl. Fishing: pink and/or silver salmon can be caught right off the beaches, out in the bay, and in the rivers, between July and September; dungeness crab can be caught with traps in the bay. Additionally: a small, inflatable boat will greatly increase your access to places such as Alpine Cove to the east, and Horse Marine Lake to the southwest.”
